Case Study: Ozumo SF
Restaurant type: Contemporary Japanese
We created this parklet drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese architecture and the exposed structure of the Bay Bridge.

The use of multiwall polycarbonate sheets within the walls obscure what's behind them while letting light through, much like a shoji screen.
The black-stained redwood mimics shou sugi ban, a traditional Japanese technique of charring wood for a water resistant effect. This stain also matches the façade of the restaurant while providing a long lasting finish that gets better with age.
